On July 16, 2020, I had the honor to to speak on a digital panel hosted by the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), joining former Philadelphia Mayor, Michael Nutter, and the other panelists who are currently pursuing graduate, post-graduate, and PhD programs at UPenn.
The Penn Rising Senior Summer Academy [PennRSSA] is an educational online program for up to 2,500 rising seniors in high schools throughout Philadelphia. The goals of the program are: "increasing access to high-quality learning experiences, actively promoting student attendance and engagement, communicating high expectations, and equipping participants for post-secondary success"
The private session, which was only accessible to the high school students, allowed us to discuss our educational/career experiences in media and/or politics. The students were very engaged in the conversation and had a lot of good questions for the panel.
The session was highly informative, as we shared about our experiences growing up in Philadelphia, and how these experiences inspired us to get in the fields we chose.
